We all know the comforts of home. We know how inviting our homes are. The familiar smells and sounds of the one place in the world where we are cradled in the comforts of serenity, safety and peace. Our homes are the one place where we reside alongside our favorite coffee cups and soft throw. Our bed is just perfect for us; we hate leaving it. That’s just how we humans feel. Can you imagine what your pets go through when they are uprooted for a quick trip to the shore or when our jobs call us away and we have to place them in a kennel with unknown smells and sounds, not to mention the weird guy living in the kennel next door who has horror stories about not being able to go out when he pleases and how the other guy down the way has a cold! Trust me, they hate it!
I am an advocate of staying at home at all cost! Believe me, I love to travel! If I could, I’d be an international jet setter but alas, I am not rich enough and I’m not as young as I used to be. So, I live vicariously through my clients; the people who can travel either at will or for business. I love listening to their exploits at the airport, mainly because I used to work there but I secretly love the airport! I love hearing of the places they’ve visited and the people they’ve met along the way. I also really enjoy hearing about the food they’ve eaten on their journeys to wherever; I am a novice foody!
I am a strong advocate for not taking your pets with you on your excursion unless it’s going to benefit them somehow. I don’t think cats enjoy hotel rooms and long walks on the beach and I don’t believe dogs really like to fly as much as we might think. I wouldn’t want to take an hour’s long flight to NYC in the cargo hold, but that’s just me, and lest we forget the meds that we sometimes give our furry families just to get them in the car to go to the airport and get on the plane! Not good!
I started this business for several reasons but mainly because I know what it’s like to travel with a pet in a car. Depending on the animal, the trip can be happy and restful or stinky and miserable for both them and you. I have also seen overly medicated animals at the airport and how clueless their humans were as to the side effects of the meds and the air travel. It’s not a pretty sight, to be sure.
At Your Bark and Call will take the worry away when you have to travel for business or pleasure or spend long hours at the office. I will ensure they’re happy and secure while you’re away. I will stay with them when it’s a dark and stormy night and walk and play with them when it’s not. I will feed them in their own dishes in their own homes with their own toys and tchotchkes about. We will walk down familiar streets and visit their friends. Trust me; they’ll be much happier at home than living in a kennel with other “displaced” dogs and cats, missing their families, their beds and their toys. Our furry family members are for some, like children. No one likes to put baby in the daycare!
At Your Bark and Call is NAPPS (National Association of Professional Pet Sitters) and Red Cross Pet First Aid Certified and is a Licensed and Bonded company with only your pet’s comfort in mind. I will personally make sure they are as happy as they can be in your absence. If they take medication, I can administer it, safely and on time. I will give you updates and pictures of your furry family to help you feel at ease. I will also take the time to make sure their potty areas are clean. No one likes a dirty bathroom! I will bring in your mail and newspaper; water your plants, etc., while you’re away. My goal is to keep your house as “normal” as possible while you’re gone.
